Since Overture’s free keyword research tool went off line in January, there has been a void in the market and a need for another free keyword research tool. Wordpot has stepped up to fill that void.
With a database of more than 80 million keywords and search terms, Wordpot is a free keyword research tool focused on aiding search engine optimization efforts and pay per click search engine advertising.
What’s so great about Wordpot?
Unlike Wordtracker which can take up to 60 seconds to return results, Wordpot returns results in less than a second. When using Wordtracker, I often don’t do some of the keyword research I probably should, simple because it is so time consuming. The best feature of Wordpot is it’s speed because it saves me so much time.
What’s not so great about Wordpot?
I found the results of Wordpot to be similar to the results of Wordtracker as far as number of searches is concerned. But Wordpot is by no means a replacement for Wordtracker. Wordtracker is much more intelligent than Wordpot.
If I do a search for ‘Disney Tickets’ with Wordtracker, it returns ‘Disney World Tickets’ as a result, yet in Wordpot it does not. Wordpot only returns results that have your search phrase exactly the way you entered it. Hopefully they will fix problems like this.
Wordpot is in the process of developing more SEO tools. They include:
- Synonyms of keywords
- Overture search results
- Keyword basket with import and export
- Returns of plural versions of keywords
- Thesaurus search
- Long and short term search reports
After using Wordpot for a week, I have to give it a huge thumbs up. What it lacks in intelligence, it makes up for easily in speed. Go give it a try.
