With Black Friday and Cyber Monday behind us we are well into the holiday shopping season. This is the time of year when many online retailers make most of their money.
Knowing what buyers and doing and are planning to do can go along way in getting the most of your internet marketing efforts during the holiday season.
Below are 11 internet holiday shopping statistics that should be important to most internet marketers and online retailers.

1. Black Friday saw $531 million in online retail spending, up 22% from 2006.
2. Cyber Monday is expected to see over $700 million in online spending, making it the largest online spending day ever.
3. Shoppers will spend 21% more in 2007 from Thanksgiving to Christmas than they did in 2006.
4. 11% of shoppers say they will do 75% or more of their shopping online this year.
5. 50% of Internet users will do some of their holiday shopping online, up from 38% in 2006.
6. 25.6% of online consumers expect to reduce overall holiday spending this year, while 16.8% plan on increasing it.
7. 61% of online shoppers prefer to shop at e-retailers that offer free shipping, although 49% say that shipping prices will not stop them from buying.
8. 26% of online shopper say that they will pay for expedited delivery, down from 45% in 2006.
9. 18% of online shopper say they will pay extra for gift wrapping, down from 33% in 2006.
10. 72 million consumers plan to shop online this year, up from 60.7 million in 2006 and 59 million in 2005.
11. The top reasons for shopping online instead of in stores are: being able to shop any time of day (58.5%), not wanting to fight crowds (43.8%, and the general convenience of shopping online (38.7%).
