BidVertiser for Advertisers

BidVertiser is a category-based Pay-Per-Click advertising network and they seem to have a great grip on the industry - especially by ordering a review on this blog. They were also kind enough to offer a referral link, which gives anyone who signs up $20 in free clicks.

Overall, the site was great. The tabs were easy to read, recognize, and understand. I had no navigational problems what-so-ever. Because BidVertiser is category based, there is no contextual ad serving and thus it can be used other advertising networks like Google Adwords.

The category search feature worked great and displayed all applicable categories relating to “internet marketing”. I selected the categories I wished to see my advertisement run on and then continued to the next step.

Next, I added any geo-targeting or geographic modifiers to the campaign. I wanted quality English traffic, so I slected USA, Canada, and the UK. If I wanted cheaper traffic since those 3 geo-targeting segments usually have the highest CPC, I could have selected other countries.

In the third step, I was able to create my ad copy. What I really liked about this step was the ad copy was automatically updated as I type. (please excuse the horrible ad copy and the lack of a call to action).

Placing the order was fairly easy, but I was surprised to see that I could not change my daily cap and that I had to go back to the beginning to set this. I added funds into my account and received a notification that it could take 2 to 3 days for my ad to go live. However, within 12 hours (I submitted at 8pm) I had received an email stating my advertisement has been approved and is now live. That is perfect. One of the biggest problems with Adbrite is the fact they don’t send an email when your ad is live, so you are unknowingly spending money.

There was one, and only one, major thing that I did not like about BidVertiser and that was the reporting. A boring little table with number of clicks, cost per click and then total cost. Why not get some fancy graphs in their and spice it up a bit?

I used Google Analytics to analyze the traffic and it seems to be a little sub-par. Though the sample is small (4 clicks), the average site time is 80% less, the bounce rate is 10% higher, and pages per visit is 10% less. Unfortunately, I’m not able to track any kind of conversions which may be useful to a site that sells some type of product or service.

Overall, I’m impressed. There are a few things BidVertiser needs to work on (reporting and traffic quality), but the cost per click was fairly low.
