Since I’m a programmer at heart, I usually end up jotting down my ideas in some fashion before starting a project. Usually, this will include features I want and structure of the application I’m making.

Since I develop for myself, there is no direct cost involved there, just opportunity cost. As such, I’ve never taken the time to put together a business plan for my own work, only for my school assignments in the past. I know it’s a good idea to have a business plan though, and I probably should take the time to draw them up in future projects!

I usually think one up in my head before I start a site or buy a new site. Rarely do I write stuff down.
