One thing that has really been holding back this blog is the number of RSS subscribers. I have been “stuck” at 70-90 for some time and have run several promotions to help get to over 100. I decided to set out and find a plugin that will help with increasing RSS subscribers and found What Would Seth Godin Do.
By default, new visitors to your blog will see a small box above each post containing the words “If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!†After 3 visits the message disappears. You can customize this message, its lifespan, and its location.
This plugin requires cookies. Users without support for cookies will always see the new visitor message. It has been tested with WordPress 2.0, but it may work with earlier versions.
It went live last night, so be sure to look back in the next few days to see if there is a noticeable increase in subscribers. Sorry for the slight obtrusion, just visit a few more times and it will go away :).
