One Laptop Per Child is on a mission to give one connected laptop to every school-age child living in a developing country.
They have developed a very remarkable laptop that is extremely durable, energy efficient, functional, well designed and fun to use.
Between November 12 and November 26, for a donation of $399 one XO laptop will be sent to a child in a developing nation and another will be sent to you in recognition of your contribution. This is the first and possibly the only time that these laptops have been available to the general public. $200 of your donation is tax-deductible.
As an added bonus, all U.S. donors who participate in the Give One Get One program will be offered one year of complimentary T-Mobile HotSpot access.

It’s not a laptop project. It’s an education project.
More about OLPC from their web site: OLPC’s mission is to provide a means for learning, self-expression, and exploration to the nearly two billion children of the developing world with little or no access to education. While children are by nature eager for knowledge, many countries have insufficient resources to devote to education—sometimes less than $20 per year per child (compared to an average of $7,500 in the United States). By giving children their very own connected XO laptop, we are giving them a window to the outside world, access to vast amounts of information, a way to connect with each other, and a springboard into their future. And we’re also helping these countries develop an essential resource—educated, empowered children.
