I haven’t done a review in awhile, so I figured it was about time. Darin.cc is a blog about search engine marketing, but when I tried to find some more information about the author, I was just met with:
This site was created to blog about Search Engine Marketing, SEO, Advertising and anything else i’m in the mood for.
I’m a Marketing Director and I blog about different things!
Overall, I really like the posting (I’ve been subscribed to the RSS feed for some time). It stays on focus, is (for the most part) professional, and be posts on a regular basis. However, one post made me quite frustrated, and that is falsifying alexa statistics. The post is about a train where users click other peoples blog links to falsify alexa ranking by having their site rank higher than it should. I see this as stealing, because falsifying traffic statistics make it so advertisers pay more (Text-Link-Ads), even though the actual traffic may not have raised. This makes me question his level of ethical standards.
Darin should add some information to the about me page to:
- Add reputation to the blog, because he is a marketing professional
- Make the blog more personal
- Let prospective readers know exactly what he does and will be talking about
I really think the blog needs a “visual overhaul” making the following changes:
- Removal of alexa ranking and pagerank bar (show them off when they are worth showing off)
- New header (right now the title is half covered up on my screen)
- New template (the current one is, well “boring.” Add some color)
- Cleaner looking footer
Overall, great blog Darin, but there are a some things I would change.
