CJ.com Releases API, Web Services Center

ValueClick Inc’s (VCLK) Commission Junction, one of the most well-known affiliate networks, has announced the release of Web Services APIs for their publishers. The new APIs, Publisher Commission Report and the Real-Time Commission Report, enable publishers to pull daily and real-time commission data respectively in the specific formats they need to move their businesses forward.

The Web Services Center has quite a few sample tools. One sample, contextual ads, is fairly new to the affiliate mix. Traditionally, contextual ads have been associated with pay-per-click and CPM advertising. However, it pulls keywords from the meta data, not page content. Another hurdle is that if you are not registered into the program that’s displayed in the advertisement, you will not get paid.

It’s great that CJ.com has FINALLY released something that allows developers to harness their huge advertiser database. I expect to see some pretty cool things come from this - if only they would promote it a little more.
